Happy Monday to all (sort of)! I don’t know about y’all… but adjusting to this time change has been ROUGH. And it’s only an hour. Which is sad. I had trouble falling asleep at a decent time and then couldn’t continue my typical hour of snoozing. Yes, I snooze for an hour every morning and I set my alarm clock accordingly. Lollie and I are not morning creatures. It was not fun getting ready in the dark the entire morning. On top of that, it is disgusting and rainy today which added to the darkness. I actually had to leave a light on for Lollie when I went to work since it was still so dark out. The good news is that my body felt like I got to leave work an hour early today, so maybe the time change isn’t so terrible.
Confession Time: I have been looking forward to The Bachelor finale all day… I’m kind of keeping my fingers crossed for #TeamWhitney, but it is a tough call because I really like both of them! I may need to take a break from blogging about makeup to blog about my thoughts on Chris’ season. I am interested to see who he picks tonight!
Anyhoo, during my initial face powder adventure, I ended up purchasing some other products as well. We will just call it a little treat from Uncle Sam. This is in addition to the large haul I have coming in from Birchbox, but that is neither here nor there. I had the intention of buying these products during my face powder trip, so I can be proud of myself for not making any impulse purchases. I wanted to take a minute to let y’all know what I thought of my new beauty loot!
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream with Super 7 Complex
I am sure that I’m not alone when I say that every 20-something likes to believe that they are nowhere near the age when they need to start using anti-aging products. Think again, all of you beautiful almost-30ians. It is time to start taking better care of your face, whether you plan on using anti-aging products or not. I confess that I am terrible about taking my makeup before bed. There, I said it. It is a rare occasion when I actually wash my face before bed. This is not advice I am recommending to anyone. I am trying to get into the habit of at least keeping makeup wipes and night cream in my nightstand. This way I literally have no excuse.
Anyway, back to the product I am reviewing! I have heard wonderful things about this moisturizer. First of all, it smells terrific. It is like cucumber water for my face. Your face will smell like a lovely, clean vegetable in the best way possible. Second of all, it makes my face feel incredibly soft. The first day I wore it, I could not stop touching my face (which I am also not recommending, just for the record). It is super hydrating while feeling light and fresh at the same time. Lastly, I am hoping that this moisturizer will, in fact, preserve my youth. I am not sure what Super 7 Complex is, but hopefully it will make me look Super 7 years younger! The price tag is a little hefty, but a little bit definitely goes a long way!
Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash
Even if this was a super terrible mascara, who could resist packaging that is this adorable? And yes, I understand that this is where they get you and I fall victim to it 90% of the time. I really love Benefit’s products. At first, I really loved their They’re Real! Mascara. The reason I stopped using it is because it is nearly impossible to take off. This stuff stayed on forever and I could not layer it once it dried. Spider leg clump central, I’m telling you. I know that Benefit makes their own eye makeup remover, so hopefully they have concocted the one formula on this planet that could actually release your lashes from this black tar prison. I was concerned that this mascara would be just the same formula with a different brush and irresistible packaging. I do love the tiny bristles. It really works well for defining and curling my lashes. However, I do feel that other mascaras have made my lashes look longer. This is something that is very important to me since I was blessed with the opposite of long, lush lashes. My lashes are of the short, blonde, useless variety. I am happy to report that this mascara is easier to remove than They’re Real!, but it is still not the easiest formula to remove. Will this become my new go-to mascara? It will not. Will I enjoy the tube I purchased? Absolutely.
Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up!
I had initially tried this product as a sample and expressed my love for it in my Warm Winter Glow Makeup Tutorial. I love the super awake glow it gives your face! My sample was starting to become a little puny, so I decided it was time to just splurge on the biggin. In looking at the full size online, I had initially thought that it was a double sided product. As it turns out (which is obviously a total DUH as I am looking at this photo), it is a smudgey sponge. I still love this product as much as I did while I was using the sample. The downside is that I was so spoiled by the fine lipstick-like tip that the sample had, that using the full size seems a little bulky in the smaller areas that I am trying to highlight (like my brow area). This is why I was excited when I thought that it was a double-sided product. The top of the stick is a flat surface and is better suited for highlighting larger areas (like your cheekbones). Now I just put some on my finger to apply the smaller areas.
Please stay tuned for some exciting things that are coming up on Lollies and Lattes! In addition to the Birchbox haul I have coming in, I also have my monthly Birchbox and a Stitch Fix on their way! I will be blogging about a food delivery service called Green Chef that I am trying out for the first time this week. Last but DEFINITELY not least, I am SUPER excited and honored to have been asked to do a Spring Wedding Makeup Tutorial for Oh, Dandelion! Lots of fun things on the horizon!
Thanks for stopping by! See y’all next time…
Marissa
